주한영국문화원 선생님의 IELTS Tip 12 - Speaking

주한영국문화원 선생님이 직접! 들려주는 아이엘츠 Study Tip 12번째 시간이에요.
Speaking 시험 중에서도 Part 3 준비에 도움이 되실 거에요~!!

IELTS Tips – Speaking– Part 3

In Part 3 of the Speaking Section, the examiner will ask you quite challenging questions on the Part 2 topic. You may have to talk about the past/ present / future, compare and contrast, speculate, give your opinion etc.

Even though you may not have thought about the topic much before, do your best to answer the questions. The topics are quite general and no specialist knowledge is required. It does not matter if you are not sure about an answer or situation as you can always use language like  I think ..... or It seems that .... to soften your responses.

Some tips:

  • Try not to personalise. The examiners questions will be neutral e.g. asking about what people do/ think, or about a situation in Korea. Don’t answer by saying what you do.

  • For example, if the examiner asks whether people prefer driving big cars or small cars, don’t answer by saying ‘Well, actually, I like driving a big car because I’ve got 3 kids and .... .’ Instead say what people in general do e.g.  Well, people with families will often choose a large car as they need the extra space and are particularly worried about safety aspects’ etc.

  • It’s better to hesitate before answering than to stop in the middle of your response i.e. think about your answer and respond when you are ready.

Good luck!
