IELTS Tips – Listening – Question Types & Preparation

The key thing to note for these parts of the test is that there are different kinds of questions, not just multiple choice. So, make sure you are familiar with each of them and have practised them before the test.

The tricky thing with the listening is that you only hear the monologue/ conversation once only.

Tip! You can prepare on your own and check your progress:

Find a preparation book with 4 recordings & 40 questions - there should be 2 x monologues and 2 x dialogues. Try to do one set as in the exam. You should notice that the test is quite easy at the beginning but gets more difficult.
Listen only once (and be careful with your spelling).
Mark your score (be honest!).
